Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your web browser. Your images are read from your device, processed in memory and saved straight back to it. They are never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone.
How much smaller will my images get?
It depends on the image. Phone photos saved at high quality often shrink by 50–80% at quality 75 with no visible difference. PNG screenshots usually shrink by 10–40% with lossless optimisation. If an image is already well compressed, the original is kept, so a file never gets bigger.
What does the target size option do?
Enter a size such as 200 KB and the tool searches for the highest quality that fits. If even the lowest quality is too big, it tells you, and you can set a smaller maximum width and height to shrink the image further.
Does compressing PNG lose quality?
No. PNG files are optimised losslessly, so every pixel stays exactly the same. To make a PNG much smaller, reduce its width and height, or convert it to JPG or WebP with the image converter.
Does it remove GPS location and other metadata?
Yes, by default. Photos often carry hidden EXIF data such as the GPS location where they were taken, the date and the camera or phone model. “Remove metadata” is on unless you turn it off, so the images you share don’t reveal where you were. Colours are kept looking the same: re-encoded images are converted to standard sRGB, and files kept in their original form keep their colour profile.
Can I process many images at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like, up to 50 MB each and 500 MB in total. Each one gets its own result and download link, and “Download all” saves them together as a ZIP file.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Because all the work happens on your own device, there are no servers to pay for.
